Let's play catch 22

If I take newish or at least not punctured or still whole possibly even with working squeaker toys to the park there are the people who feel well its on me if the toy gets f-ed up because dogs are dogs and it's really to be expected and really why bring nice-ish or favorite things to play with to off leash... and then there are other people not so different, in fact some are the same people, who then get upset and frustrated when I bring the beatup squeakerless, chewed up, one-legged toys to the park because then they are worried when their dogs get them they will demolish them and swallow the pieces...

Boo that

Guess who was not at the park this morning? Guess who still does not have her squeaky park toy back?

Where are we going?

I am hesitant to jinx it but since we're back in the city this fall, Stella's issue she had last spring with digging in and balking the moment we stepped out the outside door has evaporated. I'm pretending like it never happened and so is she. So far. She's cool to go either way when we come out-- up to the park or down to the avenue. Such a relief. I guess something about the summer hit her reset button.

how does she do it

I never bothered to keep track of how many people registered for Sylvia's cyber tricks class (for which I think we only have two more assignments lists over the next month) but the RC class starts tomorrow and I have been trying to keep track of who's who and which dog is which as people began posting their intros and as of today I think I counted 35 people signed up (some with more than one dog) plus I don't know how many are auditing...

Man that Sylvia is a incredibly busy girl!
Even before this class started she was giving constant suggestions and corrections and all kinds of advice to the RC peeps - for about a month before she was supposed to be on duty for it... plus watching and commenting on all the tricks vids in TWO tricks cyber classes and also the cyber Handling class that my sister is taking (which has been a HUGE micro-detailed help to getting my sister to move and deliver cues faster, which has made Matilda faster, for which now the cues need to come even faster...). All that plus Sylvia's real life classes and seminars continue and hmmmm training her own dogs? And I have to say Sylvia is just super human amazing, what she can glean from one look at our videos and the solutions she can offer always spot on and often unconventional and fun...

Anyway, to prep for the RC class we're supposed to have been focussing just getting our dogs to run really fast--unrelated to any plank or DW--and Stella does that just great at off leash in the park chasing toys or other dogs--I've been meaning to get new video--she does that drop low to the ground turn into a blurrrrrrrrrrr kind of run. BUT, I have not been able to get her to do that for toys elsewhere. She does that kind of rocking-horse gait and its food food food focussed -- which Sylvia does not believe inspires the same kind of speed needed to train running contacts... and while I have gotten the Stelmeister back to some fierce tugging a couple of different fav toys in a variety of places, she's just not into toys so much anymore in our little Brooklyn back yard... which is where I will have to begin the plank work when we begin. However, duh, it occurred to me just this morning, she will pick up and chew and then not want to *give* random sticks back there... so this is my new idea, when the rain stops we'll tug and chase play with sticks in the backyard (why didn't I think of this before) and see what kind of speed and excitement we can get.

spring is in the air not in the dog

I think I can take her up another small notch, she's getting her feet in there, I can see her thinking about her feet, not perfect, but certainly no more of those giant leaps... even when she's hitting high on the board she's less leapy, more running... she's trying

I'm thinking its also time to mark off where the contact line would be...

well, we'll see how she looks tomorrow... I'm feeling good about this or maybe its just the springy weather

someone told me its supposed to be like today--in the 50s--all this week...
snowfrisbeedog

blizzard glass half empty and half full

the back yard...

the walk to the park...

getting to the meadow...

unleashed...

dog happiness...

BUT no "blizzard" so no snowday was called and the kid had to go to school and she was mad about it and the other kid probably has to go to work and with a bum toe from her adult league soccer game

Our mayor made sure all the streets were plowed, even all the walkways through and along the park and even the freakin bike lanes---all plowed many times over and salted salted salted which is not great for the dogs

Anyone else get good blizzard?
