Project Stella

As you may know I have been working on bringing joy and playfulness back into agility for Stella... we have made some progress. She definitely still has her demons, she continues to worry about all kinds of things, but we have been coming at this from a variety of angles and are also definitely having fun again.

Look at the zip in her last night at the RunThrus at Paws (they had two days of runthrus because all the instructors are at Cynosport)

I love the way she is blasting off the start line! I don't even care that she missed a couple of contacts! Sweet chocolate muppet puppet... I'm really glad she doesn't hate agility. I'm really happy our happy girl is still in there somewhere under all those shaggy Eeyore curls.

After some of these happy speedy eager runs, on one of our turns I just took her out into the ring and tossed a half a dozen tug toys all around the obstacles and got her playing, taking an obstacle or two and then playing again... dropping that toy and picking up another somewhere else...

At first she was like, hmmmm oh dear, this doesn't look like anything we ever do, I think I will ignore everything and just go sniff over here... but I pushed her around a bit (she hates that) and dragged a bunny skin on a long rope around the floor and she couldn't help herself. She even started to randomly pick up a toy to play with me and got all wonderfully growly...

Wish she could be like this at trials too... She does have her moments at trials. And I've learned to keep it down to two events a day and occasionally enter a third but keep it all optional
