our little walks

I keep looking at him and holding my breath expecting his head bob, the way it has been for so long with his hurting shoulders... Sometimes it was so slight I would try to imagine it wasn't there... But it was... And I can not describe how it feels to take him out the door and up the block, to see him move now. Head held so evenly as he moves out on leash as we do our short little walks. I'm not sure which one of us is happier.

I am glad you BOTH are so much happier. You will probably watch for that tell-tale limp/headbob for a long while. It's ok. Best to watch... and take it in, than ignore. But he's going to be great. :)

Hahaha! I know this feeling!

Bender's limp had become such a part of him by the time he had surgery. I could HEAR it as he walked through the house.

And you do eventually stop obsessing and worrying about the limp reappearing. I still watch for it, but I'm not totally freaked out about it!

You know after the surgery I think he did still limp now and then and it was killing me because you and others were saying after the surgery your pups never limped again... I was all OH NO!!! But I think he's going to be fine.

Yes. The trick is to take it slow. We have time lots of time. And watch but not worry so much.

How great! Now he can take in all the out door sights and smells. He won't need fresh leaves brought in from the park. He can go to them. Can you get as far as the park and back? A short time in the park?

I have taken him in at grand army plaza and up into the woods along prospect park west and then cut out of the park over the wall at Carroll---lifting him down off the wall. He likes the woods. It also turns out to be a five minute walk to get chai--so round trip to the avenue, that's ten.

What a great feeling for both of you! I think I spend way too much time watching my dogs move and wondering if they are limping. ;-)
