I gather he was drug free for 23 years. Then last year gave in. I bet there wasn't one day of those 23 years he didn't think about heroine.

I was so sad to hear of this today. What a waste. My heart goes out to his children.

We were just right next to him and his kids on Xmas eve singing Xmas carols in Washington square park. He seemed happy guy, the only thing troubling him was a man on the other side of us who kept trying to steal a photo of him on his phone.

I am so sad about this. He was so talented, and so interesting. I'm so sad about his kids, and how public their tragedy, and wondering what it would be like to have their father so in the public eye through this, and for all the movies coming out in the future he's worked on (hunger games).

Though one small spark - someone I know outside of LJ linked your husband's article on facebook, and reading the first few lines I knew it was your husband's (and yeah, I checked the byline to be sure). He humanizes these things better than most, a little detail here and there, and some authentic sadness.
