boot suggestions?

the purple booties are fine for a walk around the block, even a few trips to the park... but hiking and squirrel chasing? any suggestions anyone? any experience with these?  http://www.gundogsupply.com/ultra-paws-rugged-boots-black.html
i saw a guy run by with his dog in some nice booties, sock inner and velcro closure on outer, not a lot of extra floppy material, dog had good footing... wished I'd yelled to him to find out what kind they were.... can't find them on line

I know a woman who does sled dog racing with her huskies, and she made a comment once that the expensive booties were almost useless, you'll almost always lose one in a ditch somewhere, lol. I have very limited experience with them, but she recommended to get something cheap and "disposable." Not that you couldn't re-use them, but that you weren't sad when you lost one.

Again, I have almost no experience with them, though. So I'l be following your quest closely. :-)

If I am not mistaken Tammy has used the Ultrapaws for hiking. I have not tried those yet, I have a pair a friend gave me that didn't fit her dog, but they are too big for the BCs and Butters rarely needs boots so I haven't given them a test drive.

So far I have found the simpler the better, the Muttluks work these best for Emily in the snow, but by best they still don't work great unless the snow is pretty packed down, if her feet are sinking into the snow above the boot nothing stays on for long.

I think Butters could probably wear a size 5 in these

Look at petsmart for those boots with sock inner. They are gore-tex too. I bought some there several years ago but saw them recently. Search Muttluks.

I have a set of Ruffwear ones for Kota and they're great. I do tend to stop him and refasten them every 30 minutes or so, just to make sure, but I haven't lost one yet! They do the sock inners too although I don't have any.
