Stel and I have been working on the towel trick--where the dog takes it in their mouth and flings it over their own head--but we haven't gotten anywhere. She just picks up the towel and stands there, head movements like that just aren't in her repetoire...
I thought it would be a good one to learn, fun for her, she loves to play tug with the towel after a bath and she likes it when I cover her head with the towel and really rub-a-dub-dub her face dry. But we don't do the bath thing that often, so capturing would be few and far between.
So I've been tossing the towel off to the side so there is a kind of swinging motion when she turns toward me again or else I move behind her and she picks up the towel and whirls around to face me, I also tried holding the towel so she has to tug it away from me, but so far none of this hasn't worked. She doesn't get it that I am clicking for her head movement yet... or maybe ever.
I should qualify that to encourage her to try stuff with the towel I started out by clicking for anything and everything she offered with the towel and then kept getting the same - back feet only, pawing with front feet, mouthing, picking it up over and over, and she just seemed confuzzled so I narrowed it down to just stuff she would do with her mouth... which is just picking up the towel...

Hmm, never tried this trick. What if you forget about having her hold it, try to extinguish the picking it up and holding it thing. Try to get her burrowing and MOVING the towel with anything but her mouth. Then either go back to seeing if she will toss it when holding it, or you will end up with a different cute way to end up with the towel over her head.

Yes--I LIKE this idea! because I think she will lie down with it and burrow and maybe I can work that into a roll which will get it over her head... anyway possibilities thanks!
