thinking, rethinking

I am trying to decide what to do now... do I sign up again at half price with Silvia to finish what I started? Do I start all over and try Daisy's online RDW class? (I missed this session, not sure when the next one starts) Do I just proceed on my own now with what little access I will probably have to DWs over the winter? Where are we really with our RDW?

I made this video for someone who I have tremendous respect for who was/is skeptical that Stella would still have a good RDW without the ball... that she  might not really understand the behavior, she's just chasing the ball. I've gotten kind of nearsighted and so I was interested to try a session without the ball.

and then for myself I did a comparison... a couple of yesterday and today's random runs juxtaposed, with and without the ball... I don't know, I feel she is definitely faster, steps on the gas slightly, the moment I throw the ball... and I don't know if she understands the behavior... I do think she understands something, because the major leaping has stopped...

She looks actually pretty consistent to me here. But now that the glow-in-the-dark ball helped get rid of the wonkyness... it probably time to add some other obstacles back and variables. Next week.

I have not yet been able to use a stationary toy,  because well, first she wasn't into toys that way and I had to work on that and then, at the point I was supposed to move to a stationary toy on the far side of a jump we had speed issues a setback  and then Silvia said to just keep using the moving ball...  sometimes throw it earlier so it would be stationary by the time she got to it... after Stella was up to speed again and I started moving the jump and tunnel around at either end for exit angles... we were fine and then we weren't fine again... and now she seems to be back in the program, I don't know...

I'm the farthest thing from an expert on this subject as you can get but that never stops me from giving an opinion :-)
Even if Stella doesn't truly understand the running contact (btw, how would it be different if she did understand it?)I don't see how you're any the worse off for doing this training. At the very least you're getting her comfortable running across the board, speeding up her performance and at the worst--well, there is no worst is there?
