the squirrel-o-meter ding ding ding ding

Happy to report that our squirrel hunting expeditions are working out even better than I ever imagined. She now knows she has to check-in with me before I release her to the chase and she is checking in a lot. And the best is after she has treed the squirrels, her recall is excellent! She doesn't run off scatter-brained wild and deaf. She keeps her head, and she is even sometimes barreling back to me without me calling her. Happy to leash up and resume our hunting. I had no idea how well this would work out. But my value seems to have gone WAY up... how cool is that?

We are not even too upset that the park has started fencing off some of our best squirrel hunting areas. We can work around this. ; )

I'm guessing the odds are we will get caught by the cops one of these days.

GOOOOD GIRL!!
Razor says fencing off the squirrels wouldn't stop him! (and it wouldn't, believe me...)

Worst is when the squirrel just dives under the fence never losing a beat and Stell has to go the long way around and then it's what squirrel no squirrel here

I was SO just thinking of you and Stel because Raze and I were in the non-flooded back yard and I was doing some distance stuff with him (asca show coming this weekend) and I SAW A SQUIRREL up in the tree watching him. But he either didn't see it, or didn't care and chose to do agility with me for his ball rather than notice a squirrel. I'm going with "didn't care" because....

it makes me feel special. ;)

I thought the fencing off might have been to do with some park fireworks in Brooklyn someone on FB mentioned. I guess not. This fence looks more permanent anyway. Good job Stella with the recall work.

We get plenty of squirrels right here in the yard, climbing trees, running across the roof, off through other trees. They're on the ground sometimes but take off fast when the dogs are out.

No that was the Judy Chicago birthday exploding butterfly at the north end of the meadow. This is some kind of vegetation rehabilitation I am pretty sure.
