...but alas again I am going to bed NOW and not waiting for the upload... sorry, hope it works it was a long long day... it started with the annual Holiday party with Judy's class and then went on to be all about making room in the garage and the arrival of the big truck and heavy boxes and furniture and lifting and carrying---my brother's stuff and more triage. almost there.

oh wait other people have video of the same Brooklyn neighborhood on youtube up already... I'll post this one (warning, i did not preview it) just incase mine doesn't go again... i know, cheating. but really I'm just going to bed now... thats ALL ALL ALL that matters. (i think the problem is my compy goes to sleep when i do)

Gotta love the rich Eye-Talians.

I love how your sister is worried about finding the car - reminds me of one time I saw a post on Craigslist, someone forgot where they parked last night and gave a block radius in case someone found his car.

I am pretty sure that was Sinead who was worried about the whereabouts of the car... she had somewhere to be right after the lights of Brooklyn trip... busy gal.

oh yeah, the assumption has always been thats Italian mob money, but I think that neck of the woods is increasingly Russian and Arab wealth

OOOH, I learned SO much from this video!!

I learned that Brooklyn is the land of creepy anamatronics. Seriously. That giant santa would have pushed me right off the edge!

I also learned that retched excess is alive and well! People: "There is such a thing as TOO MUCH!!" ahahahah.
I loved hearing the snatches of conversation and all the kids.

I can't imaging how long it takes to put something like that together. But I'm guessing most of those people are hiring professionals (wow, professional light hangers, amazing). As a Lighting Display Professional -- though -- wouldn't you be asking the client "You sure? 237 glowing angel statues?? 237?? Maybe go for an even 150? No? Ok, you's the boss"
So you WIN!! for being the BEST and also the most APPALLING X-mas lights video. I'm sure that dude in Australia I originally posted about could NOT beat any of this. This was the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
I'm sure I'll have some nightmares about it!

nightmares
there used to be a fairly modest house with all the Its A Small World animated dolls purchased from the NYC 1964 Worlds Fair... but maybe they moved away... we essentially only did one block of this craziness though, we could have missed the singing dolls... these people must all be so competitive and yes, they don't hang the lights themselves and they don't store them in their homes either--they pay for all that and the electric bills.
one thing we did see this year that we have never seen before is everyone who had come to see the neighborhood lights had no qualms about trespassing all over these peoples property, all up on their lawns and posing with the displays... that must have driven those homeowners bananas

Re: nightmares
I did wonder if that missing Baby Jesus wasn't there because he was snatched! But maybe they just had him inside for safe-keeping.

In any case, you're ASKING for crazies when you set out all this stuff.

My favorite, by the way (and I'm sure you could guess) was the lovely home with the life-sized deer in the yard (protected by an iron fence I noticed...) That was lovely and tasteful and I could stare that that for hours. The other stuff just gives me a headache...

hahaha, I don't know... I don't think I heard you say that (but my headphones weren't up all the way). Maybe it was subliminal??

It's kind of like the haunted house for you, Rosie.
