this is my LJ stickie note for myself

my current dog agility wish list

from mightymite dog gear:

metal cart R8 - mid  $169.95

(so i can get more equipment out to offleash in the park)

midwest grooming table 36"  $96.47

(to save my back and keep her standing so the whole process is twice as fast)

Finn DVDs $50 and $25
(for injections of fun and challenge)

from clean run:
silvia trkman's Foundations Fun DVD - $69.95

pet down travel dog bed--$22.95
(space saving (and easier wash) when "rv"-overnighting in Pearl)

my current trialing goals

1) getting Stella to turn into me without shouting at her, I really need to stop the panic shouting! Poor Stella.
2) there are these weird moments where Stella comes to a complete stop on course directly in front of a jump and she looks at me like, Are you sure you want this jump, really? really THIS jump? ...ok.
Both of these things I am sure have to do with me not being clear or late or leaving too soon...

I hate that
feeling (more than half the time) like I am flying-by-the-seat-of-my-pants at a trial

but we did ok inspite of me--a perfect Q weekend

even our first SNOOKER with ALL 7s---whoo hoo!

i spent friday evening combing and brushing out the wildchild snarls and mats in front of the TV, all weekend people were commenting on how "poofy" Stella was looking
and also it was odd so many people came up to us (like 5) and said how much they love to watch Stella's runs... for comic relief maybe? I don't know, I've stopped asking people to video. I am afraid to see how herkyjerky and wrong I look. I am so out of practice. And she is so earnest. I fail her. But I do have a private lesson on Friday. please dont snow, please dont snow

I really have to work myself up to ask someone to video, unless I'm there with my agility class friends.

Hey! you gotta keep filming yourself. I swear, it HELPS! and maybe you'll actually SEE what you're doing to cause that stop in front of the jump thing..

Congrats on all the Qs.

I have to share with you, because you do so much CPE. I had a CPE nightmare this weekend!~

I dreamed I took Razor to a CPE trial and we entered in level 4. I guess I felt we could pass in level 4, so that's where I put him. But when we got there, it was the STRANGEST AGILITY EVAH! with "stations" where your dog had to cross his legs laying down (hmm, wonder where THAT nightmare came from?? hahaha), push buttons on a kiosk, find articles buried in dirt, and all sorts of other crazy things. The actual "course" had some jumps but they were ALL backsides of jumps and when I walked the course, I just freaked out. "We can't do ANY OF THIS!!" Why oh why did I enter that trial? In my dream I recalled that we'd not done a CPE since Razor was 1 year old. FIVE years ago. My... it had certainly changed.

Anyway, that was my dream. And when I woke I was so relieved that it was only a regular AKC coming up. Cracks me up that I have anxiety dreams about agility. 10 years ago I didn't even KNOW what agility was~!

There is also the stress of asking people to video. I don't need it. When Liza and or B and I all trial together it's better. Provided we r not running backtoback

Oh, I totally hear you on the video... I do it all the time = take the camera, and NOT ask anyone.

there are many reasons, but the top 3 are:

(in no order of pertinence)

1. Most people do a shite job of filming, they say weird crap, miss your startline or hit "pause" instead of record and you end up disappointed.

2. I generally believe it annoys people to be asked to do this. Why? I'm not sure. It never annoys me to do it for someone else. Am I the ONLY one that big-hearted? I don't think so.

3. I'm not overwhelmed by my camera's video capabilities. So even if I DO get video, it's often not very clear or light and it's worth is minimal.

4. Downloading.

So yeah, I get it. Still, you can learn a lot from a good video. Maybe ask for SOME of the runs? Grab someone who looks bored. OR!!! Grab a doodle enthusiast! I find those with like-breeds become fast friends. Often!

I have one unforgettable one where the person is spending the entire run freaking out that she can't get it to turn on, when it was ON all the time. The flashing "REC" light probably was a good clue.
At almost the end of the run you hear "Oh! here it is!" and BAM! blackness... Sigh.

I wish clubs would put up a video swap sheet. My friends are running multiple dogs or same height and asking the acquaintances I'm not there yet.

We have this guy out here (meaning in the General Northwest) who has a 20-something daughter who runs (I think) 2 dogs in a LOT of shows. He started by just filming her runs, now he freaking films EVERYONE!! and so far is giving the videos away for a donation. SWEET! he does a great job. He filmed that run-off run I did with Razor last Nov. That guy is da bomb! Everyone should have a guy like that in their neck of the woods.

That is the funniest dream! As anxious as I get before a run I've never had a dream about agility disasters. In school I had anxiety dreams. (I had to take a test and hadn't done any of the reading. etc.)

I tend to have freak out agility dreams. Normally I'm running someone else's dog and there's fire in the hoop, and water hazards, nails sticking out of dogwalks, etc... It's sad, but funny too!

i saw the cart this weekend, someone had it and it just seems so sturdy unlike others I've seen... i wanted to put it some place I could find it again and not just some random piece of paper. and while I was at it, I thought I'd add the other things I've been thinking about...

I have anxiety about asking people to video too. I try to do it only at trials where there are many people I know, so I can spread the duties around a bit. Most of the people I know are in my classes, since I know the terrier and 8/12" people the best. So I can only do it if there are multiple BIG dog people I know there, who aren't going to leave during the 8" class. Luckily this weekend, everyone seemed to hang around for the little dogs, which was odd since it went big to little both days, so I was able to get all but one run on video. I think because it was a Sheltie Club running it, so many of the people I got to video were club members who were staying all day but only running the 16" class. I definitely like the idea of a video swap.

I've had weird dreams about agility courses full of non-agility equipment/behaviors too! Like, they have to slide down a slide, jump in a pool and splash around, twirl in circles, etc. Haven't had it in a while though.
